Modern European cars are not on a 3,000-mile oil change. That rule was retired by the manufacturers in the late 1990s when synthetic oil and tighter manufacturing tolerances allowed for longer intervals. Most cars we service today are on a 7,500- to 10,000-mile schedule with full-synthetic oil and an OE-spec filter.
The right oil matters more than the interval. Each European manufacturer has a specific oil specification — and putting the wrong spec in your engine will accelerate wear on the timing chain, the turbocharger bearings, and the catalytic converter. We stock the right oil for every platform we service.
How often should I change the oil in my European car?
Most modern European cars are on a 7,500- to 10,000-mile interval with full-synthetic oil meeting the factory specification. Audi and VW use 504/507. BMW uses LL-01 (or LL-04 for some N-engine cars). Mercedes uses 229.x. Porsche uses A40, C30, or C40 depending on platform. The 3,000-mile rule is a quick-lube myth that does not apply to modern engines or modern oil.

Frequently asked questions
Do you use OE-spec oil?
Yes. We stock Mobil 1 ESP, Liqui Moly, Castrol Edge LL-01, and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum in the factory specifications for every European platform we service. We will not put a generic 5W-30 in your Audi.
Can I bring my own oil?
Yes, if it meets the factory specification. We'll verify the spec on the bottle before we use it. Bringing your own oil saves you the parts markup; labor is the same.
Do I need to change the oil filter every time?
Yes. Modern European cars use cartridge-style filters mounted on top of the engine; the housing is opened, the old cartridge removed, and a new one installed. Reusing the old cartridge is not a viable shortcut.
